My sister suggested years ago for me to start a blog. “A what?”, I said. Well, thank you, Cindy, for your suggestion – I think I’m gonna love this ! And I hope you do too. I want to share what my heart has “seen” and is learning through God’s Word and I want to hear from you too.
The first time I EVER went to Bible study was when my “baby” was in an infant seat. I remember it vividly. (He’s 25 now BTW) My step-mom invited me; she was the leader. I don’t know if I would have went to a study where I didn’t know A SOUL – maybe. Anyway, I have been going to a weekly study since then regularly and LOVE IT, absolutely love it!
When scripture says “ open the eyes of my heart, Lord” – what do you think that means? Hearts don’t have eyes, I mean literally they don’t. My step-mom used to say, “I know it in here (pointing to her brain) but I now know it in HERE (pointing to her heart). There’s a difference. Head knowledge/heart knowledge.
Everything I “know” in my head, is not “known” in my heart – is not seen with the eyes of my heart. God’s Word, through the Holy Spirit, penetrates the heart to make a difference. We “think” different with our hearts and THAT can be life-changing! THAT is what this blog is all about.
Here, Paul says to the Ephesians (two different versions) :
Amplified: By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe.
NIV: I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
"seeing with my heart" reminds me of Romans 12:2 and having our minds renewed with truth. God's Word is the means with which God opens our hearts to see what our minds already know (as you mentioned.)
ReplyDeleteAm looking forward to enjoying the musings and encouragement found here, Debi!
What a wonderful way to start your day! Lead with the eyes of your heart...show that "actions speak louder than words"
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your encouraging words Deb! You have a beautiful gift from God! Thanks for sharing that:*)
...because it isn't enough simply to teach truth. You never affect the whole person until the 'eyes of the heart' are enlightened. When truth is moved from the head down to the heart, it has gripped the emotions. Then the will is properly motivated. The heart needs to see things, needs to grasp truth and understand it. And the heart is always used in scripture as the seat of our emotions. Remember the episode in Luke 24- that walk to Emmaus...."Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the scriptures to us?" (v.32) Faithful prayer shortens one of the longest distances known by humanity which is the distance between our head and our heart. Debi, in my humble opinion, has a gift for prayer, so it doesnt surprise me that she has been enlightened to start this blogging business....my only question is, "What's next?" Radio? Television? Podcasts? I can say, I knew her when.... and I'm honored to share this faith journey with her. Blog or no blog.
