I Am

I babysit my two grandsons, twice a week, early in the morning while Mom is still at work and Dad leaves for work.   While there, I noticed a book of poems that my grandson, Jaden, had written last year in 3 rd grade.   One was a simile poem and he compared his little brother to a buffalo!   How insightful!  The poem made me laugh out loud - w hat a talented young man he is!   Anyway, I digress - another of his poems was entitled, "I Am".  He wrote about himself, his fears, his thoughts, etc. I thought about what I would write if I wrote an “I Am” poem.    What sums me up?   Shows my character - who I am deep inside, where only I (and God) knows?   This is what I came up with: I AM DEBI I am Debi. I am loved and forgiven. I pray I am the woman God has called me to be. I am fearful of loneliness. I yearn for peace and contentment. I am Debi. I fill myself with The Truth. I know heaven is my home. I want my witness to live on in generations

Held.

Do you ever want to be held?   Tight?   I do.   There are times when that’s all I need, really – is to be held.   There is a beautiful song, On Eagles’ Wings , from Psalm 91, where it talks about God holding us in the palm of His hand (or in this version, “dwelling in His shelter”). Psalm 91 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; H is faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the

Elsa Faith

My granddaughter, Elsa Faith, was born on August 7th.  Her name is my husband's father's mother's name (!) - her great great grandmother.  She is a blessing from above and I would like to dedicate this post to her and the legacy of faith she has been born into.   For You created my inmost being; Y ou knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and  wonderfully made; Y our works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139 But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord ’s love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children — with those who keep His covenant and remember to obey His precepts. The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
