Make my life an alleluia!

Have you ever had conversations in your head?  Like, you talk yourself into something or OUT of something?  It was early Sunday morning and I was alone as my hubby was gone ice fishing for the weekend.  The alarm went off and these thoughts came through, loud and clear:

NOT YET – I don’t want to get up!

But you have to get up – there’s church today.

BUT the bed is warm and I’m tired.  I don’t have to go today.  I go every Sunday, I can miss today.

What about choir?  Aren’t you singing in choir?

YES, but they don’t need me.

YES they do and you want to go to church, remember?  You love worship.

I know, but the bed feels so good  . . . . .

Anybody else out there?  Oh, I got up, got ready and was late for choir rehearsal but glad I went because later, during worship, as we (the choir) sang one of my favorites, my life song, I like to think, “Make My Life An Alleluia”, my heart was overwhelmed with praise and thanksgiving for where I was - worship.

Now we had practiced the song at least twice before worship - never had the “feeling” then.  But as I sang these words, they touched my heart so much I just had to share them with you:

Make my life an alleluia – a song of praise to You each day.

To proclaim Your grace and glory,

fill my heart with Your praise I pray.

When I stand at the mountain top or the valley of despair,

This will be my cry, my song, my prayer

Lord, make my life, an alleluia!

I can’t tell you what that did for my heart – singing those words – MEANING those words.  It brought me to where I needed to be that morning.  The song goes on to say,

Make my life an alleluia – a gift of love to You, my King,

I will join with all creation in the song that the heavens sing

The earth will turn and the planets spin,

as the seasons ebb and flow;  still Your grace surrounds me as I go.

Lord, make my life, an allelulia!

Isn’t that what we all want?  To be a song of praise, a gift of love?  To join in all creation and praise the One and Only, the Creator?  Psalm 8 says,

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!  You have set Your glory above the heavens.

From the lips of children and infants.

You have ordained praise because of Your enemies.

To silence the foe and the avenger.

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,

the moon and the stars, which You have set in place,

what is man that You are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?

You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.

My devo this morning said, “True worship has this effect upon us.  It simultaneously humbles and uplifts us.  In other words, worship places us exactly where we should be, in the realization that we are small, . . . we are tiny creatures in the presence of God, but tiny creatures whom He adores.” (Sanctuary, David Jeremiah)

This “tiny” creature LOVES worship and LONGS for the presence of Her Savior.  I NEED to start my day that way – with the God of the heavens and earth – the One Who adores me (really?), Who has ordains praise, Who crowns me with glory and honor.

What would my attitude, my day, have been if I hadn’t started out in worship?   I shudder to think!!

The song ends with,

When I come to my journey’s end, may those left behind be reminded,
this has been my cry, my song, my prayer, Lord, make my life an alleluia!

I pray this, with all my heart.

May my heart see . . . a blog? What?

My sister suggested years ago for me to start a blog.   “A what?”, I said.   Well, thank you, Cindy, for your suggestion – I think I’m gonna love this !   And I hope you do too.   I want to share what my heart has “seen” and is learning through God’s Word and I want to hear from you too.   The first time I EVER went to Bible study was when my “baby” was in an infant seat.   I remember it vividly.   (He’s 25 now BTW)    My step-mom invited me; she was the leader.   I don’t know if I would have went to a study where I didn’t know A SOUL – maybe.   Anyway, I have been going to a weekly study since then regularly and LOVE IT, absolutely love it! When scripture says “ open the eyes of my heart, Lord” – what do you think that means?   Hearts don’t have eyes, I mean literally they don’t.   My step-mom used to say, “I know it in here (pointing to her brain) but I now know it in HERE (pointing to her heart).   There’s a differ...

Happy New Year!   It’s a new year, a new beginning – the old is gone, the new has come!   YIPEE!   Not that 2012 was so awful – but it’s good to start afresh, don’t you think?   Get rid of some old “bad” habits, put on some new “good” ones.   My husband and I have promised each other we are not going to be “crabby” with each other anymore.   I am horrible!   We will try and talk nicely to each other - that alone will be a miraculous feat!! Sometimes, I just want to take back immediately what I just said – ever want to do that?   At my office, my new cubby partner taught me a wonderful keystroke last year that I told her has “spiritual” meaning.   Seriously! ctrl-Z.   Ever use it?   It un-do’s.   Yep – whatever you type wrong or don’t mean to do – it undoes it.   Ingenuous!   I use it all the time now.    (I know – I’m slow!) What on earth could be the spiritual meaning of ctrl-Z?   Hmmm...

REAL expectations?

Oh to be truly thankful for what I have and to have REAL expectations in life.   I mean, IF I am truly thankful for all that is given me (no matter what) – and to KNOW what is expected – doesn’t that sound peace-ful (full of peace) – wouldn’t that be a “slice of heaven” so to speak? I have a sweet granddaughter (Adalay) who is 10 months old, breast-fed and still not sleeping through the night.   She wakes up and needs comfort.   She’s hungry.   That’s reality.   To expect that she be comforted WITHOUT her mother – is that a REAL expectation?   Probably not.   I did have her for the night a couple weeks ago and we “made do” although we were up quite a bit (we took a delicious 4 hour nap later J ). Anyway, the REALity of it is that Adalay needs comforting in the middle of the night, albeit, with or without milk.   A lactation specialist has told my daughter-in-love that THAT is NORMAL – a REAL expectation for babies, even at 10 months old.   If...
