OUR ONLY HOPE

I wish I could say that I'm a strong person and my faith was not shattered through the past two years of my son's illness . But that would be a lie . I have been in the pit of despair. I have screamed and wailed and shook my fist at the God of Abraham. And through it all He kept loving me, holding me, filling me, and showing me that my surrender would make me stronger and my weakness would enable me to get through.

I was asked, what is your biggest fear about losing your son? My first thought was that our family would never be the same and I am correct. But I also thought that there's no way we could go on without him. His wife, his children, all of us, how would we endure? But God has shown me over and over that we can get through this but we cannot do it alone.  And being weak and needy is an opportunity for God to show Himself and to love and heal together.

God has been preparing me for this devastating event in my life as He has poked and molded and gave and took away until all I could do was look to Him for my strength and my hope and pretty much everything else.

Through this my prayer life exploded and my life has never been the same. I have witnessed God's mercy over and over. He has brought true Christian friends into my life over the years that have held me and counseled me.  These relationships have strengthened me and pointed me toward Jesus.

I have never been alone through this. Ever. And I promise you, you are not either, no matter what you're going through. God is present, He is our comfort and strength and most importantly OUR ONLY HOPE.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 NIV

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him.”  Psalms 28:7 NIV

May our hearts hold onto this hope as we surrender all that we are. 💕💕🕂
